BOBARABA DANCE – IVORY COAST

Bobaraba literally (when translated) means “big bottoms” and the bobaraba dance is an African dance style that originated from Ivory Coast. The Bobaraba dance has become extremely popular in other African countries such as Mali and South Africa. Apparently, one of the creators (the other being DJ Eloh) of this unique dance style DJ Mix with regards to its creation has officially stated that “We made it as a tribute to women, because African women are defined by the shape of their bottoms”. Furthermore, such has been the popularity of this Bobaraba dance style that many popular African footballers have performed this dance as a form of goal celebration.
