YYDC proudly presents the world premiere of NOWHERE, the latest creation by esteemed Chinese American choreographer Yue Yin. The performance will take place on June 8-10, 2023, at Chelsea Factory located at 547 W. 26th Street in NYC. Conveying a feeling of uncertainty and disconnection from our tangible reality, the piece challenges us to embrace the unknown and venture into unexplored territories. Much like our own world, NOWHERE exists on the brink of a new frontier. Combining Yue’s powerful physicality and dynamic movement, the performance takes audiences on a transformative journey of self-discovery, offering a shared experience that transcends boundaries. YYDC, a nonprofit contemporary dance company, is dedicated to the creation, performance, and education of original choreography by its founder and artistic director, Yue Yin. Yue’s work draws inspiration from her unique movement vocabulary known as FOCO Technique™, which blends Chinese folk and contemporary dance styles. She has received numerous accolades for her innovative choreography and contributions to the field, including the 2021 Harkness Promise Award, the 2015 Hubbard Street Dance Chicago International Commissioning Project, the 2015 BalletX Choreographic Fellowship, and the 2013 Northwest Dance Project’s Pretty Creatives International Choreographic Competition.
