Staro Tikveshko Oro is a traditional Macedonian folk dance which literally means “The old Tikves dance”. This Southeast European dance style also known as Starotikvesco is said to have originated from a region called “Tikves” located in the Republic of Macedonia. Furthermore, this dance is mainly performed by men and comprises of a “slow-fast” tempo. In addition, this dance consists of a 2/4 rhythm.

The costume worn in this dance style varies according to the gender as follows:
1. For men:
The attire worn includes a long dress that includes a trouser/pyjama, an overcoat, a cloth tied around the waist, belt, and a pair of boots.
2. For women:
The attire worn includes a long dress that includes a skirt, an apron, belt and a headgear.
C. Music involved in the Staro tikveesco oro dance:
The major musical instrument used in this dance style is the gajda i.e. a form of bagpie.
D. Training availability and technique involved in the Starotikveesco:
In terms of technique, the performers in this dance initially arrange themselves in a semicircle. Furthermore, they then hold each other placing arms around the shoulder, and then dance to the rhythm of the music using loose hands. In addition, the performers after initially dancing in a semicircle eventually end up performing in a circle in front of each other. As for training centers/schools, there are none available around the world since this “traditional” dance is mainly performed in Macedonia.
