“Caught red handed by the police” is what Kolbasti a Eurasian dance form means when literally translated. This “social” dance is said to have originated from a seaport known as Trabzon located in the northeast of Turkey during the 1930’s. This dance is mainly performed during festive occasions such as marriages especially by the younger generation.

Apparently, a legend states that this Turkey dance style was inspired and developed in Turkey as a result of police patrols arresting people found drunk on the streets. Furthermore, over the years this dance has become extremely popular all around Turkey, and is performed mainly by the younger generation during marriages.
