Kinkini Kirtan Dance Festival Commences in Ujjain

According to Pratibha Raghuvanshi Elchi, the director of the institute, the three-day event features a range of dance competitions including solo, duet, and group performances of Kathak and classical dance forms.

Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh) witnessed the grand inauguration of the three-day Kinkini Kirtan National Dance Festival, 2023, which took place at the esteemed Kalidas Sanskrit Academy on Thursday. The event saw the presence of esteemed guests including Sanjay Sharma, provincial general secretary of Sanskar Bharti, senior dance guru of the National Institute of Kathak, and international Kathak dancer Dr. Samiksha Sharma, along with Dhirendra Tiwari, senior dance guru of Shri Ram Bhartiya Kala Kendra, New Delhi. The inauguration ceremony was conducted by Padmaja Raghuvanshi.

Pratibha Raghuvanshi Elchi, the director of the institute, shared that the festival will feature various categories of dance competitions, including solo, duet, and group performances of Kathak dance and classical dance forms. The participants, consisting of over 150 children and young artists from cities such as Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Gujarat, Indore, and Bhopal, will mesmerize the audience with their dance performances during the last two days of the event. On May 20, the final day of the program, a prize distribution ceremony will be held to honor the outstanding performers.

In addition to the competitions, the festival will also pay tribute to renowned Kathak dance guru Dr. Shobha Kausar, a recipient of the Sangeet Natak Academy award. She will be honored with the prestigious Guru Late Kundanlal Gangani Smriti Nrityalankar 2023 award. The event will conclude with a captivating group Kathak performance by students of Pratibha Sangeet Kala Sansthan, Ujjain, choreographed by Pratibha Raghuvanshi Elchi.
